FAQ

Our pieces

Where are your pieces made?

In China. The technique was perfected in Limoges in the fifteenth century and carried east during the Kangxi emperor's reign, where the imperial workshops developed it further. China has been home to painted enamel ever since, and it is where the enamellers who paint our pieces work today.

What are the pieces made of?

A brass base, hand-painted with vitreous enamel and finished in gold tone. Some pieces also carry freshwater pearls, mother-of-pearl or set stones.

Are the pieces nickel-free?

Yes. Our pieces are nickel-free, so they suit most people with sensitive ears. If you have a known metal sensitivity and want to check a specific piece, write to us at support@maisonpaillon.com.

Will my piece look exactly like the photo?

Very close, but not identical. Every piece is painted by hand and fired five to eight times, so a brushstroke falls a little differently and a colour shifts slightly in the kiln. Small variations are the mark of the hand, not a fault.

How do I look after hand-painted enamel?

Enamel is glass, so it is hard but it can chip. Take pieces off before showering, swimming or exercising. Let perfume, hairspray and lotion dry before you put them on. Wipe with a soft dry cloth rather than jewellery cleaner, and store each piece separately so nothing knocks against it.

Ordering

How does "choose two, pay for one" work?

Add two pieces to your bag and the lower-priced one is free. It applies across the whole collection, so you can mix earrings, necklaces and bracelets however you like.

Can I have my order gift wrapped?

Not at the moment. Every piece arrives in its own box, wrapped for protection in transit, but we don't offer gift packaging or gift messages yet.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Write to us at support@maisonpaillon.com as soon as possible. If the parcel hasn't been dispatched, we'll do what we can.

Delivery

How long does delivery take?

Five to seven working days from the day you order. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding Danish public holidays.

Where do you ship to?

Denmark and the rest of the EU. Shipping is calculated at checkout, so you'll see the cost before you pay.

My parcel hasn't arrived. What now?

If it's been more than ten working days, email support@maisonpaillon.com with your order number and we'll follow it up with the carrier.

Returns

Can I return a piece?

Yes. You have 14 days from receiving your order to tell us, and a further 14 days to send it back. Return postage is paid by you.

What if I return one piece from a two-for-one order?

We refund 50% of what you paid and you keep the other piece. Return both and we refund the full amount.

Can I exchange instead?

We don't process direct exchanges. Return the piece for a refund and place a new order for the one you'd like.

My piece arrived damaged.

Email support@maisonpaillon.com with a photo and your order number. You have a two-year right of complaint under Danish law, and we cover return postage in these cases.
